Non-Insurance APIs:
Pre-Integrated Third-Party Services
for Insurance Transactions
insureMO Non-Insurance APIs are the platform's shared, non-domain-specific services that support every insurance transaction without containing insurance-specific business logic. The category is deliberately small and focused — it currently comprises six pre-built services: Email, SMS, Voice, OCR, Cloud Disk, and KMS (Key Management Service). Each one wraps a well-known technology (SMTP/SendGrid, AWS SNS, Alicloud SMS, Google OCR, S3-compatible storage, hardware-grade key management) behind a single, unified insureMO API, console, security model, and audit trail.
Unlike insureMO's Insurance APIs, which handle domain functions like policy, quote, billing, and claims, Non-Insurance APIs provide the common technical foundation that underwriting, claims, channel management, reinsurance, and finance teams all rely on. Rather than integrating separate vendors for SMS, email, OCR, or encryption keys, insurers get these services pre-built and ready to use within the same platform.
Why This Category Exists
Every insurance transaction — issuing a quote, processing a claim, sending a renewal notice — depends on generic technical services that have nothing to do with insurance logic itself: sending a text message or email, making a verification call, reading a scanned document, storing an attachment, or protecting a secret. These services are essential, but they aren't unique to insurance.
insureMO separates this common services layer from its Insurance APIs so that:
Insurance domain teams can focus on policy, claims, and product logic without rebuilding infrastructure
The same communications, storage, and security services are reused consistently across underwriting, claims, channel management, reinsurance, and finance
Changes to a common service (for example, adding a new SMS provider) don't require touching insurance-specific business logic
Most insurance platforms leave this layer for insurers to assemble themselves — integrating a payment gateway here, an OCR vendor there, a separate key-management stack elsewhere. insureMO bundles it in as a built-in part of the platform.

The Six Non-Insurance API Categories
Email Service is a connector to SMTP-based email servers and the SendGrid email service. It supports sending emails with a plain-text body or attachments in business scenarios such as policy issuance. You can configure your own email account before using the service, and both a user manual and RESTful APIs are provided.
SMS Service sends short messages to mobile phone users by API call. It connects various SMS vendors — AWS SNS, Alicloud SMS, BulkSMS, and Nexmo — behind unified and simplified APIs, so a single integration works across regions and providers.
Voice Service is a connector to different voice vendors that enables making voice calls through unified APIs. It lets insurers place verification and notification calls without contracting each telephony provider separately.
OCR (Optical Character Recognition) extracts information from various types of images — photos, PDFs, and handwritten files — and converts them into machine-encoded text, eliminating manual data entry in business applications. Many cloud vendors such as Google offer original OCR services; insureMO's OCR service acts as an adapter that connects various OCR vendors and provides a unified interface to consumer applications.
CloudDisk is a lightweight, low-cost cloud storage service. You can upload and download data from any application anytime and anywhere by calling the API, and manage it simply through the portal. It is suitable for storing any type of file and serving various users, such as websites, development companies, and developers.
KMS (Key Management Service) lets you create and control the keys used to encrypt your data. It provides a single console and API set to manage cryptographic keys, aliases, and secrets across the platform, following the familiar AWS KMS-style model: keys and secrets can be created, enabled, disabled, described, updated, deleted, listed and aliased; data can be encrypted, decrypted and re-encrypted; data keys and MAC codes can be generated and verified.
Common Use Cases
Sending policy documents, claims updates, and renewal reminders via Email or SMS without integrating separate messaging vendors
Delivering one-time passwords by SMS, email or voice call (Send MFA / Verify MFA) for login and high-risk operations
Extracting data from scanned claims documents or ID cards with OCR instead of manual entry
Storing electronic policies, claims evidence and attachments securely via Cloud Disk (encrypted, tenant-isolated)
Encrypting sensitive policy and payment data with KMS keys, secrets and envelope encryption
Verifying message integrity with KMS GenerateMac / VerifyMac
Built-In Common Services vs. Point Solutions
From payments and messaging to document generation and OCR, non-insurance services power every insurance transaction. Sourcing them as separate point solutions multiplies vendor contracts, integration effort, and governance overhead, while the services built into the insureMO platform ship pre-integrated under a single security, audit, and identity model.
insureMO Non-Insurance APIs
Separate Point Solutions
Integration effort
Pre-integrated within the platform, available alongside Insurance APIs
Separate vendor contracts and integrations required for each service
Consistency
Single audit, security, and identity model across all services
Fragmented logging, authentication, and compliance per tool
Speed to deploy
Available immediately as part of the platform
Additional procurement and integration cycles per vendor
Governance
Centrally managed within insureMO's platform architecture
Governance responsibility spread across multiple vendors
How It Fits the insureMO Platform
Non-Insurance APIs are one of the Four Key Components of the insureMO Portal, alongside:
Digital Insurance Product Library (DIPL) — for modelling and managing insurance products
Insurance APIs — for policy, claims, billing, and other domain-specific transactions
Utility & AI — for platform utilities and AI-driven capabilities
Together, these four components make up the full insureMO Portal experience. Non-Insurance APIs is the connective layer that the other three components — and any custom application built on insureMO — draw on for common technical services: sending a notification, reading a document, storing a file, or protecting a secret.
FAQs
Insurance APIs handle insurance-specific domain logic — policy, quote, billing, and claims transactions. Non-Insurance APIs provide the common technical services — communications (Email/SMS/Voice), document capture (OCR), storage (Cloud Disk) and security (KMS) — that support those transactions but aren't insurance-specific themselves.
